Delivery Information

Last reviewed: 29 July 2026

This policy explains delivery, cancellations, returns, refunds and faulty goods for orders placed with GDL (Formby) Limited through Garage Door Parts UK. It does not reduce any rights you have under UK consumer law.

Delivery

Delivery charges and available services

Available services, current prices and any location or product surcharges are calculated from your basket and delivery address and are shown before you place your order. Prices shown to UK consumers include VAT where applicable.

Options may include Royal Mail economy, standard and Special Delivery services, DPD next-working-day, timed and weekend services. Not every service is available for every product, postcode or order. The options shown for your completed basket and address at checkout are the options available for that order.

United Kingdom delivery prices

The following are our published starting prices. The exact service and charge for your completed basket and delivery address will be shown at checkout and may be higher for heavy, long, remote-area or otherwise restricted consignments.

  • Royal Mail Economy (2–5 working days): from £1.99, Second Class.
  • Royal Mail Standard (1–3 working days): from £3.49, First Class.
  • Royal Mail Special Delivery, Monday–Friday: guaranteed next day by 1pm where available, order before 12 noon, from £12.95.
  • Royal Mail Saturday Special Delivery: guaranteed Saturday by 1pm where available, order before 12 noon Friday, from £15.95.
  • DPD next-working-day delivery: order before 12 noon Monday–Friday, from £11.95.
  • DPD Saturday or Sunday delivery: from £26.20.
  • DPD timed services before 10:30am or 12 noon: premium options from £23.95.

Important: Delivery dates and timed services are only guaranteed where checkout expressly identifies the selected service as guaranteed. Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly may cost more and normally take 2–4 working days.

Dispatch and delivery estimates

For in-stock items ordered before 12 noon Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, we aim to dispatch the same working day. Orders placed after the cut-off are normally dispatched on the next working day. Large, palletised, made-to-order, cut-to-length or out-of-stock items may take longer; we will tell you if a different timescale applies.

Delivery times are estimates unless a service is expressly described as guaranteed at checkout. They start when the order is dispatched, not when it is placed. We will deliver without undue delay and, unless we agree a different date with you, no later than 30 days after the contract is made.

Royal Mail Economy: please allow 2–5 working days. Royal Mail Second Class letters may not be delivered every weekday and are not normally delivered on Saturdays.

Remote and offshore areas, including Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly, may cost more and take longer. Bank holidays, severe weather, carrier disruption and circumstances outside our reasonable control can also affect delivery.

International delivery

International services, delivery estimates and charges depend on the destination and basket and are shown at checkout where available. International customers may also have to pay local import duties, taxes or clearance charges. These are not included unless checkout expressly says otherwise and are the recipient’s responsibility.

Destination Estimated delivery time Published starting price
Ireland 3–8 working days from £11.10
Germany 2–8 working days from £9.90
Netherlands 2–5 working days from £9.90
France 2–8 working days from £14.40
USA 5–10 working days from £15.95
Australia 5–10 working days from £18.00
Rest of Europe 2–8 working days varies by weight and country

If your country or a rate is not shown, add the goods to your basket and enter the delivery address. Contact us if checkout does not offer a service.

Address accuracy, missed delivery and tracking

Please check your delivery address before paying. Contact us immediately if it is wrong; an address cannot always be changed after dispatch. A carrier may leave a card, offer redelivery, deliver to a neighbour or safe place where authorised, or hold the parcel for collection. Further carrier charges caused by an incorrect address or repeated failed delivery may be payable where permitted by law and agreed with you.

Risk, delay, loss or transit damage

For consumer orders, the goods remain at our risk until you, or a person you identify to receive them, takes physical possession. If a parcel is late, lost, incomplete or damaged, contact us as soon as reasonably possible with your order number and, where useful, photographs of the parcel and goods. Prompt notice helps us investigate with the carrier, but it does not remove your legal rights.

Changing Your Mind: Consumer Cancellations

If you are a consumer buying online, you can usually cancel without giving a reason. Tell us within 14 days beginning the day after you, or a person you nominate, receives the goods. If one order arrives in separate deliveries, the period begins the day after the last item is received.

You can cancel by emailing [email protected], using our contact form, writing to us at the address below, or using the model cancellation form at the end of this policy. Give your name, order number and enough information to identify the goods. You do not have to use the model form.

After telling us you are cancelling, return the goods without undue delay and no later than 14 days after your cancellation notice. Send or deliver them to:

Returns, GDL (Formby) Limited
Strawberry Cottage
Pimbo Lane
Upholland
Lancashire
WN8 9QL

Please include your order number or contact details so we can identify the return. The original receipt is helpful but is not mandatory where we can verify the purchase another way. Collections and hand-delivered returns are by prior appointment only.

Return costs

For a change-of-mind cancellation, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods that can normally be sent by post. Use suitable packaging and obtain proof of posting; you remain responsible for the return until it reaches us. For goods which, by their nature, cannot normally be returned by post, contact us and we will arrange and pay for collection.

Condition and handling

You may inspect goods as you reasonably would in a shop. You are responsible for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods. Original packaging must be preserved, to the best of your ability, and protected in an outer bag or box if returned to us, in order for us to re-sell the item as new. If items are returned and not taken care of, including the item's original packaging, we can no longer sell the item as new and this would reduce its resale value, which you are responsible for. Please note, we send items out in outer protective packaging in order to preserve the item's original packaging and offer protection in transit to the goods.

Refunds

We will refund the price paid for the item only. We do not refund the outbound or inbound postage costs. The card or payment-processing fees will also be deducted from the refund amount as these are not refunded to us.

We will refund you within 1–3 working days of receiving the returned item back. Once the return is opened and inspected, your refund will be processed and a refund email sent. Refunds are made to the original payment method. Please note, if we are closed for holidays, stock-taking or similar reasons then refunds will take longer to process as delays are likely.

Cancellation exceptions

The change-of-mind right does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, including items genuinely manufactured or cut to measurements you supplied where this was made clear before purchase. It also does not apply to other statutory exceptions. This exception does not affect your rights if goods are faulty, not as described or incorrectly supplied.

Faulty, Damaged, Misdescribed or Incorrect Goods

Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, contact us with your order details. We will provide an appropriate remedy under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and will bear reasonable return or collection costs for goods that are faulty, damaged in transit, misdescribed or supplied incorrectly.

Consumers normally have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of delivery. After that, you will normally be entitled to a repair or replacement first; if that is impossible, unsuccessful or not provided within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or refund. Your precise remedy depends on the circumstances and the law.

Do not install or continue using an item once a fault or incorrect supply becomes apparent if doing so could cause further damage or create a safety risk. This practical request does not limit your statutory rights.

Exchanges

Contact us if you ordered the wrong part and would like an exchange. An exchange is subject to availability and any price difference. For change-of-mind exchanges, you are responsible for returning the original postable item and for the delivery cost of the replacement. An exchange does not replace or restrict your cancellation or faulty-goods rights. It is a simpler and swifter process to return the incorrect goods for a refund and reorder the correct goods, which can be immediately sent out to you.

Business Purchases

The statutory consumer cancellation rights above apply only to individuals acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. Business returns must be agreed with us in advance. Nothing in this policy excludes rights or liabilities which cannot legally be excluded.

Business and discretionary returns outside statutory consumer rights: Refunds will be less card transaction fees as the payment provider no longer refunds their payment-processing charges. The refund will be processed minus postage and payment-provider fee.

This deduction does not apply where consumer law requires a refund, including an eligible online consumer cancellation or goods that are faulty, misdescribed, damaged in transit or incorrectly supplied.
